Kelley Kakes from Denver, Colorado let us know that this year she is seeing the incorporation of more metallics in wedding cakes. "Lots of soft gold, brushed silvers and coppery colors are being used in the details on wedding cakes. Cupcakes are not as big of a deal as they were, and if we are using them, they're detailed to compliment the cake."
But the big trend she told us about is cake toppers. We're seeing cake toppers at every style of wedding and on every kind of cake nowadays. We're not talking about your typical cake toppers, but big, bold cake toppers with phrases like "To Infinity and Beyond", "Forever and Ever", or "Mr.& Mrs". These aren't dainty at all, these are big loopy, cursive lettering painted to match the decor.
